Francesco Musumeci

Francesco Musumeci was born in 1985. He achieved the BSc degree (cum laude) in Telecommunication Engineering from Università degli Studi di Catania in October 2006, and the MSc degree (cum laude) in Telecommunication Engineering/Optical Communications from Politecnico di Milano.

Since January 2010, Francesco is a PhD Student at the Department of Electronics and Informations (DEI) at Politecnico di Milano under the supervision of Prof. Achille Pattavina.

From May to September 2011 he has been a visiting student at the Institute of Communication Engineering of the National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu City, Taiwan, hosted by Prof. Cheng-Shang Chang.

His current interests focus on energy-efficiency in optical core networks, Content Delivery Networks and optical switching architectures.

Besides TREND he is involved in the Italian research project "BESOS" (Bandwidth efficiency and Energy Saving by sub-lambda Optical Switching).
