Plenary meeting, Gent 14-15 February 2012

LOCATION
The meeting will take place in the IBBT premises, Zuiderpoort Office Park, Gaston Crommenlaan 8, B-9050 Ghent-Ledeberg, see http://www.ibbt.be/en. It can conveniently be reached by public transport, taxi or even on foot (30 min walk) from the city center or from the train station Gent Sint-Pieters (main station). See map.
 
IBBT position
 
- Public transport, from station Gent Sint-Pieters: Bus 9, Stop: E3 square (Ledeberg), This stop is situated on the A. Hendricklaan, at the crossing with the Gaston Crommenlaan. If you walk through the Crommenlaan, you will soon reach the new building complex of Zuiderpoort Office Park. IBBT is situated in the nearest, lowest building of this complex, on the first floor. You will find signposts on the site.
- Public transport, from City Centre (Korenmarkt): Tram 4, direction Moscou, Stop: Hundelgemsesteenweg (Ledeberg), You take the tunnel at the roundabout, this will lead you under the flyway. After passing through the tunnel, you will face the lowest office building of the new Zuiderpoort Office Park. IBBT is situated in the nearest, lowest building of this complex, on the first floor. You will find signposts on the site.

AGENDA

The first day of the meeting (14 February, h. 10.00-18.00) will be open to external researchers, while the second day (15 February, h. 09.00-15.00) wil be devoted to internal discussions about on-going work and future plans.

HOW TO REACH GENT
From Brussels airport (Zaventem)
  • Regular train connection to Ghent (it takes about 1 hour)
  • Time tables and other information on: http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/
    (enter from “Brussels Airport” to “Gent Sint Pieters”)
  • Train leaves from the airport building (floor -2), about 3 trains per hour
  • Direct train to Ghent or one change in Brussels (in one of the 3 main railway stations)
Note 1: every train to Ghent passes the 3 main railway stations in Brussels, i.e. Noord / Nord, Centraal / Central, Zuid / Midi
Note 2: directions Brugge, Knokke, Blankenberge, Oostende all stop in Gent Sint-Pieters
From Charleroi airport (Brussels South)
From train station Brussels South/Brussel Zuid/ Bruxelles Midi
  • Regular train connection to Ghent (it takes about 30 minutes)

Note: directions Brugge, Knokke, Blankenberge, Oostende all stop in Gent Sint-Pieters
From the airport to Ghent by taxi
  • A regular taxi (located just outside the airport building) from the airport to Gent typically costs more than 100 euro.
  • You can order your taxi in advance (latest the day before) and have someone waiting for you upon arrival from the taxi company ISSY SERVICE. This would take 60 euro for 2 persons.
RECOMMENDED HOTELS
 The recommended hotels are in the city centre, near korenmarkt where you can take the tram to come to IBBT.
